Sinopsis y Descripción del libro PERSUASION

Sir Walter Elliot of Kellynch Hall, Somersetshire, was a man who, for his own amusement, never took any book other than the Baronetage; there he found occupation for an idle hour, and comfort in a distressed one.....

Persuasion is Jane Austen's latest complete novel, published posthumously.

When the Napoleonic Wars end in 1814, the Admirals and Captains of the Royal Navy are put ashore, their work is done.

Anne Elliot meets Captain Frederick Wentworth after seven years, by chance her sister and brother-in-law rent their father's property, while she stays for a few months with her married sister, who lives nearby.

They fell in love the first time, but she broke off the engagement.

In addition to the subject of persuasion, the novel evokes other themes with which Austen was familiar: the Royal Navy, in which two of Jane Austen's brothers rose to the rank of admiral; and the superficial social life of Bath.

It is extensively portrayed and serves as the setting for the second half of Persuasion.
